Outside: An Army On the MovePosted by Stunner (Kingston, Jamaica) on 20 November 2007 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. It took a bit of time and quite a few shots to get this shot. I am extremely proud of this as focusing on such small insects with an auto focus camera is no easy feat! One more reminder for me to continue saving for my $US700 plus Nikon D40X.

Rabbit from Richmond, United StatesI understand your focus issues with a small camera. You did an EXCELLENT job with this! They look like they are working hard. 20 Nov 2007 5:50am Mandy from South AfricaWow Stunner this is awesome....I can totally relate to the dozens of shots needed to get this one......I'm yet to get the "one" of such tiny little ants....but I will persevere - this is really awesome and I know that once you get that new D40x you'll be wowingus with even more brilliant shots like this 20 Nov 2007 6:31am ColNed Pictures from Amersfoort, NetherlandsCool macro shot, love the way you composed this one.. great work !! 20 Nov 2007 7:43am Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomGood close up and detail with this one. Its hard enough with an SLR, but as this was with a compact, its amazing. Good work, and hope you get that D40X soon. 20 Nov 2007 8:39am Melody from United StatesAm impressed wid how U bring out character in inanimate subjects (like de hydrant yesterday wid that bit of b&w magic U did), but also how U personify subjects like this ant wid detail so it seems as large as a bee. 20 Nov 2007 1:24pm L.Reis from PortugalIn the end you were rewarded for your patience and persistence...the "soldiers" look just great on that difficult climbing to the top :) 20 Nov 2007 1:48pm MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomYou have every right to be proud of this capture Stunner it's excellent! 20 Nov 2007 3:31pm Reza from Montreal, CanadaWow! This is absolutely wonderful shot. I wish you had a macro lens to catch more details of this little army. 20 Nov 2007 4:28pm amy from Rocky Mountain House, CanadaExcellent job Stunner!! We've all been there.. Keep saving those pennies, eh! 20 Nov 2007 6:18pm Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesThese are busy little ants; but your autofocus camera came through, and your creative eye envisioned a very wonderful photo! 20 Nov 2007 7:55pm Illuci from Hurdegaryp, NetherlandsHello Stunner, again a picture proving we have so much in common with the ants if you look at our bridges from a plane, beautiful!! You are also comforting me by your remark of saving, that's also what I do, at first I thought aminus3 members are all rich people with 1000 - 2000 dollar cameras with collections of lenses, but you show I'm not the only one :). I have a 2nd hand camera which costed me 90 euros (100 dollars) from 2001. Some features won't work, but I can choose from 4 ISO's and it has also manually changeable focus, but oh, that's so painstaking, millimeter work! Those nice red berries or little flowers, moving in the wind, and waiting for a sunray or 0.5 seconds of windstillness, and monitoring the exactly 10 centimeters! Don'talk about it:). Anyway, this picture is very succesfull! 20 Nov 2007 8:40pm @Illuci: I too thought everyone on Aminus had a decent SLR, so it is comforting that other's are getting amazing photos from auto focus cameras! Keep practicing with what you have, you are still getting marvelous shots...can you imagine how good they will look when you get a brand new SLR! Rebecca from Leicester, United KingdomWOW. Many salutations to you, dear friend, on this AMAZING capture! I wish I’d been able to get a shot like this with my point and shoot! A truly marvellous sight. Love it. :) 20 Nov 2007 11:31pm Wolfgang Prigge from Granby, Québec, CanadaThe result certainly justifies your efforts, congrats! 21 Nov 2007 12:09am Rags from Plano, United Stateskeep saving bro!
