I took this shot of the grill to my apartment, and the thought came to my mind, how in an effort to secure ourselves we somehow imprison ourselves both physically and psychologically.

good thoughts there Stunner something we all have to ponder over it's interesting that in more developed countries we have to use these latches and locks but in less developed places like island villages or even jungle villages i think you hard see any of these... funny how as we become more developed and "civilised" we become more "paranoid"... anyway, good close-up shot, great cpature of details and textures and contrasting colours! well done! :)

@kairospix: True kairospix, where i use to live in Portland, my parents house never had grills, but in Kingston it is a necessity.

How very true with your image comments.
What I really like is that your shot is also optimistic in the face of your words, as I notice the gate bolt is open, which to me is like letting the world inside back out, the world outside back in, so the whole shot and comments comes together very well.
